Border Wall Response

In Ignacio’s article , he discusses Trump’s infamous border wall. In this article Ignacio talks further on how Trump has wanted a wall since the beginning of his presidency, as well as how Trump is trying to work with Texas to build the wall. My favorite part of the article had to be when he discusses how Dan Patrick needs to stop flirting with the idea of funding a wall, and actually support the people of Texas by funding necessary things. Overall, this was a great article and I agreed with what was said.

Heartbeat Bill

I recently read an article from the Houston Chronicle that discusses how the Texas House is pushing for a bill that would ban abortion once a heartbeat is detected. The article went into detail about how this bill has the support of over 40 lawmakers, and could propel straight to the house of 12 men and 1 woman. This article goes into further detail about which lawmakers and representatives are supportive of this bill, but this is an alarming read. I think this is an important article so people can understand what’s going on and stay informed, so they know what actions to take when wanting representation.

Texas' illegal decrease in special ed funding

Texas most likely will owe the federal government $223 million for illegally decreasing funding for special education. It was noted this past October that Texas might owe $33 million, but it has since increased to a quarter of Texas' annual special education grant. It is federally prohibited to decrease funding from the previous years, yet Texas has continued to do such. In an article by the Texas Tribune , it discusses exactly what's been going on with Texas' illegal decrease in funding and how it could possibly affect the future of Texas' education funding. There is obviously a major flaw with how Texas spends money on students with disabilities, but a huge problem is that Texas chooses to focus almost exclusively on spending money on students with severe disabilities.
